Welfare State and Social Intergati9on of People with Disabilities in the Republic of Cyprus: The degree of effectiveness of the services of the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities through the eyes of the beneficiaries
    English
    • This research paper will analyse the way in which the welfare state of the Republic of Cyprus supports and integrates people with disabilities through the provision of social services by the"Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities". The Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities is a social service created by the Budget Act Law of 2009, on the basis of the Cabinet of Ministers' Decision No. 66.763 and date. 6.2.2008.

The "Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities", will be studied as a case study and its operation will be investigated through the quantitative rethodology using a 38-closed ended questionnaire which will be addressed to its beneficiaries. The results of the questionnaire will be processed, analysed and compared with the Annual Reports of the social service under study.

Regarding the above, the research aims to investigate whether the social service under study has achieved the purpose for which it was created, ie. to safeguard and fulfil the rights of the vulnerable group of people with disabilities through its services. Therefore, through the literature review and the empirical data of the research, an attempt will be made to identify the problems and dysfunctions of the department under study as well as to draw conclusions and recommendations for improvement if such action is deemed appropriate.
